Why We Chose Galway Downs
After touring multiple different venues, going back and forth on what we wanted, Galway Downs immediately felt right the second we drove up. It was the last venue on our list to tour, and on the way there, I told Alexei I felt like it was going to be the one. (Does this make me psychic?!)
I thought picking a wedding venue would be this long, stressful process where I’d overanalyze every detail and leave even more confused than when I walked in. (A lot of the venues we first toured were) But with Wedgewood Weddings, every single venue of theirs was extremely informative and very easy to understand all the wedding lingo. I feel like weddings themselves are already so foreign as it is, and they did a wonderful job in explaining everything without making us feel overwhelmed either. I’m also such a visual person, so it was super helpful when they provided us actual photo examples, options printed out, explanations of the package differences, etc.
Each venue was so unique to each location, but it felt like every single venue was missing something we’d envisioned. Galway Downs had the exact balance we were looking for: open but private, romantic but modern, and naturally beautiful without feeling too “try hard”. A lot of other venues we also toured felt either too polished and unable to be altered or customizable enough to really feel like our day. They were all pretty don’t get me wrong, but they just were not necessarily us.
There wasn’t necessarily one particular thing that sold me. Honestly, every single part of Galway just did it for me. It has this gorgeous, open, ceremony space with a natural backdrop with a beautiful pond, trees, and all this open space that makes everything feel really expansive without losing that intimate feeling. It already has so much built-in and natural beauty, which means it doesn’t need to be overcomplicated. (I realized a few days after booking, that I had actually saved Galway as a venue on my Pinterest Board? Like?? Manifestation or what?!)
It’s not one of those venues where you walk in and feel like you’re stepping into the exact same wedding everyone else has had. It feels like a blank canvas that gives us room to make it ours. Custom florals. Intentional design. Less cookie-cutter vibes. (Give me ALL the draping please) We’re leaning into the sorts of a whimsical, romantic, slightly European feel. Clean, elevated, organic, but still natural. I want my Pinterest board to come to life.
And also, If you know me, you know one of my first questions was whether I could add animals into the ceremony. And maybe… something else too.
So… safe to say, this wedding is going to be very us.
